FUNCTIONAL NUTRITION EXPLAINED!

'Functional Nutrition Explained!' is a series of infographics on nutrients that are relevant to mental wellness. You can download the PDF for a closer look.

I will continue to expand on the series by adding information about important micronutrients, botanicals and supplements.

As a general rule of thumb, food sources are preferred over supplements.

*Please be advised that supplements are NOT without risks or side effects. Speak to a medical professional before starting any supplementation.*

Micronutrients are the building blocks of neurotransmitters and other substances in our body and can have a large impact on our health. Like medications, supplementation with micronutrients comes with a risk of side effects and over-supplementation. In some cases, supplements can interact with medications to produce unwanted effects.

Food is the preferred source of all micronutrients.

Please speak with a medical professional before starting any supplements.
