Hyehyun Paek, M.D.
I am an immigrant from Seoul, South Korea. I originally arrived in Halifax, traditionally known as Mi'kma'ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq People. There, I received both a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a Doctorate of Medicine at Dalhousie University.
I completed my Psychiatry Residency training at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec and my Integrative Psychiatry training at the Integrative Psychiatry Institute based out of University of Colorado School of Medicine. I would like to respectfully acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands that I now reside on, the Kanien’kehá:ka Nation of Tiohtià:ke (Montreal).
I am trained in different psychotherapy modalities including Psychodynamic, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Compassionate Inquiry, psychedelic-assisted therapy, group therapy and other somatic-oriented therapies. My approach is holistic, relational, trauma-informed, somatic- and emotion-focused.
My interests include traditional healing methods, psychedelics/plant medicines, ancestral work and spirituality.
I am grateful and humbled to receive and apply ancient and Indigenous wisdom, none of which originates from me.
